This architectural masterpiece is a statement of the eclecticism of the times and of Straits Settlements design and detailing. Carefully restored after a century of neglect, "La Maison Blue" has been the location for several films including "Indochine" with Catherine Deneuve.

Staying at the Cheong Fat Tze Mansion was a highlight of our stay in Penang. It is conveniently located (we walked almost everywhere we wanted to go), it oozes charm, and the room was clean and comfortable and quite large (we were in the Batavia room). It also had an excellent breakfast.

The Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion is more a museum than a hotel. Each room is individual and can be chosen at time of booking. The interieur is great and renovated very nice and with much effort. There are guided tours two times a day in the building. The room was very nice and spacious and filled with historic artefacts.
